We are opening the Ember student ambassador programme for university students aged 18 and over who want to help more people discover and use Ember. It is a chance to introduce something you enjoy to your own community, work with our team and earn commission for eligible new users you bring to the app.

What is Ember?
Ember is an app for meeting people where you already are. You can download it on iPhone or Android, make your profile and discover people through the app. In a venue room, private waves let you express interest, and a mutual wave becomes a match.

Our ambassadors will help people take that first step: finding the app, understanding what it does and giving it a proper try. The focus is bringing people to Ember itself. You can do that through everyday conversations and the communities you already belong to.
What an Ember student ambassador does
Your role is to help new people discover Ember and feel comfortable getting started. How you approach that should fit your university, your interests and your own way of communicating.
That might mean showing a friend how the app works, sharing your invitation link with a student society that welcomes it, or talking about your experience on your own social channels. You could introduce Ember to a sports club, a course community or a group of people who have recently moved to your city.
We would also like to hear what you learn. Which questions come up when you explain Ember? Is there a part of getting started that people find confusing? What would make the app more useful for students around you? Those conversations can help us improve the experience.
You will have room to suggest your own approach. We will agree the scope with you before you start, including how referrals are tracked and what counts towards commission. This programme is centred on growing the app's community, so running events or selling to venues is not part of the role we are recruiting for here.
Who we would like to hear from
We are particularly interested in current university students who enjoy connecting people and are already involved in their campus community. You might be a society member, a course representative, a team captain or simply the friend who makes introductions.
There is no minimum follower count. We care about whether you can explain Ember clearly, treat people thoughtfully and follow through on what you agree to do.
You should be:
- Aged 18 or over and currently studying at university.
- Interested in trying Ember and understanding it before recommending it.
- Comfortable talking with people and listening to their questions.
- Reliable, approachable and considerate of other people's boundaries.
- Happy to stay in touch with the team about your progress and ideas.
Previous ambassador or marketing experience is welcome, but you do not need it to introduce yourself. Tell us about the communities you know and how you would help people discover the app. That gives us a useful starting point for a conversation.
Commission and support
This is a commission-based opportunity. Ambassadors can earn for eligible new users they introduce to Ember, subject to the programme's verification and review process.
We will share the commission structure, eligibility criteria, payment arrangements and any limits directly with applicants before they agree to take part. Earnings depend on qualifying referrals, and applying does not commit you to joining the programme.
Alongside commission, you will have direct contact with the Ember team, guidance on explaining the app and a chance to contribute ideas from your university. The role gives you practical experience in communicating a product, reaching a community and understanding which approaches help people get started.
We want the arrangement to be clear on both sides. If you have questions about how it would fit around your studies, include them in your email so we can discuss them with you.
Thoughtful introductions matter
Good recommendations leave people free to decide. Share Ember where it is relevant, follow the rules of any society or group you post in, and accept when someone is not interested. Ask permission before featuring anyone in a photo or video.
Be open about your connection to Ember when promoting it. For social posts made as part of the programme, use a clear advertising label upfront, following the ASA's guidance on recognising advertising on social media. We will help you understand the expectations before you begin.
Referrals must come from real new users choosing to join for themselves. Duplicate accounts, self-referrals and artificial activity are excluded from commission. Referrals are reviewed before payment, and we will explain the criteria in the programme details.

Please include your name, university, city and year of study, along with a few sentences about why the role interests you. Tell us which communities you are part of and one idea for introducing Ember to people around you. Social profiles are optional; share them if they help us get to know your approach.
We will review your introduction and get in touch about fit and next steps. If we move forward, we will discuss the programme details with you before you start making referrals.
Do I need a large social media following?
No. Your connection to a university community and your approach to introducing people matter more than a follower count.
Is this about bringing people to Ember events?
The role is about helping people discover and use the Ember app. Event attendance and venue recruitment are not requirements of this ambassador programme.
