Delete your Ember account

Last updated: 17 July 2026

The short version

You can delete your Ember account and profile at any time, straight from the app. Deletion takes effect immediately. If you no longer have the app installed, you can ask us to do it for you by email. This page explains both, and exactly what is removed and what we are required to keep.

Delete it yourself, in the app

The whole thing takes under a minute:

  1. Open Ember and sign in.
  2. Open Settings from the menu in the top corner.
  3. Scroll to the Delete account row and tap it.
  4. Read what will happen, then confirm on the deletion page. Your account and profile are removed right away.

Don’t have the app anymore?

Email [email protected] from the phone number or email address on your account, and ask us to delete it. Writing from the address on your account lets us find and verify you faster. We respond within 30 days, and in practice much sooner.

What gets deleted

Your account and profile — your first name, photos, interests and date of birth — are deleted immediately.

Night activity (waves, matches, icebreaker messages and drink codes) is already deleted from the live service within minutes of a room closing, and in any event within 24 hours, so by the time you delete your account there is nothing of it left to remove.

Your points balance is removed with your account.

What we keep, and why

A sealed record of each night is retained solely to answer a lawful request from the authorities. It is stored apart from the service, is never shown to you, other guests, venues or our staff through the product, and no feature can reach it.

A venue-visit counter (how many times you have been to each venue) is kept under a coded identifier derived from your sign-in details, not under your name. After deletion it keeps no visible link to you; if you later return with the same phone number or sign-in it simply continues, so a venue’s regulars numbers stay honest.

Reports you were involved in are kept up to 12 months so patterns of abuse stay visible, or longer where the law requires.

Venue billing records (for venue accounts) are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires. Standard server logs are kept up to 30 days.

Full detail on retention lives in the privacy policy.
